Vision

The purpose of Southland College is to provide a tertiary Christian educational community of teaching, learning and research excellence, founded on Biblically-based, beliefs, values and behaviour.

Mission Goals

  • To communicate the grace and love of God
  • To undertake scholarly and intellectual research
  • To inspire educational research and implementation of best practice in teaching methodology
  • To create a tertiary level learning community that becomes the provider of choice of undergraduate and graduate programmes for Christian educators in Australia and beyond.

Purposes

  • To provide teacher education courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels which assist graduates to clarify their presuppositions, develop a Biblical world and life view, and assist students to relate their views to all areas of their life and teaching;
  • To produce graduates for whom teaching is both a professional commitment and a Christian ministry to students, parents, the church community and the wider community of which they are part;
  • To promote Biblical Christian scholarship particularly in the area of education;
  • To promote the cause of Christian education through research, publications and participation in the field of education.
