| About Southland College
Southland College offers courses to equip
Christian educators in the fulfilment of their mission. Its courses
aim to enable Christian educators to reflect upon the basic principles
and values which underpin their ministry and to enhance their
effectiveness in teaching from a Biblical perspective. The testimony
of those who have undertaken courses with the Institute is that their
thinking has been transformed and their practice of Christian
education has been significantly enhanced.
Southland College began
in 1988 as the Institute of Christian Tertiary Education, running
quality programmes and degrees in teacher education. In 1998, we added
the Master of Education to our offerings and in 2001, we added the
Bachelor of Education (Conversion). In 2004, we changed our name to
Southland College as a signal of the fresh new future ahead of us.
The name is associated
with the original name given to Australia by the Spanish explorer
Captain Pedro Fernandez de Quiros - “Australia del Espiritu Santo” or
“South(land) of the Holy Spirit”. Implied in the name is a destiny for
our country and the surrounding island countries to which Southland
College is committed.
The testimony of those
who have studied with us is that their thinking has been transformed
and their practice of Christian education has been significantly
enhanced. Join us and be inspired by the teaching of world leaders in
Christian Education.
